Welcome to TrailHUB

What TrailHUB does for trail managers and the fastest path from a new account to a live, shareable trail status map.

TrailHUB gives your organization an official, real-time trail status page and map. You draw or upload your trails, open and close them as conditions change, post notices and snow reports, and your audience sees it all instantly on the web, embedded in your own site, on digital signage, or by scanning a QR code. Public users can subscribe to your trail system and get email or SMS alerts when you post an update.

This manual is written for trail managers (owners, administrators and trustees). If you are a member of the public looking for trail conditions, start with Public users.

#Your first 30 minutes

  1. Create a manager account at trailhub.org/login. Every new account gets a 30-day free trial. See Create a manager account.
  2. Set up your trail system. Give it a name, pick a default map location, and upload your logo. The form appears automatically after sign-up. See Edit trail system details.
  3. Add trails. Draw them on the map or upload GPX/KML/GeoJSON files. See Trails.
  4. Post an update. Try a notice, surface conditions or a snow report.
  5. Share it. Copy a direct link, embed code or QR code from the Share menu.
  6. Go public. New trail systems start hidden from the TrailHUB directory. When you are ready, turn off Trail System Inactive in your settings. See Hide a trail system.

The full checklist, including trustees, extra trail systems and billing, is in Setting up your account.

#Where things live

Everything is reached from the navigation bar at the top of the map:

  • Trails, Points and Updates manage your content.
  • Share gives you links, embed codes, QR codes and signage mode.
  • User Settings (person icon) holds your account details, billing, trash, API keys and the list of trail systems you can switch between.
  • Trail System Details (info icon) is where administrators open Trail System Settings, Trustees and, on eligible plans, Calendars Settings.

See Map interface for a labelled screenshot.

#Phones and apps

There is no public TrailHUB phone app. Your audience uses the website, which can be added to a phone's home screen so it opens like an app; see Phone app. For managers, a separate Grooming Tracker app is in beta; it records a grooming pass by GPS and posts Groomed conditions for the trails you covered. See Grooming Tracker.
